QRshing is a social engineering technique that is done by scanning QR codes by scanning the code, the victim is directed to a fake website, and that is where cybercriminals can obtain confidential information, install malicious software, among other things.

How to avoid becoming a victim?
- Do not scan QR codes when in doubt of their origin.
- Verify the URL addresses before going to the web page.
- If the QR code redirects you to pages that ask for personal information or passwords, do not enter the data if the context does not require it.
- When the QR code is in public places, such as stores, make sure that there are no overlays on top of the real code.
- If you use QR codes, for example, in your business, periodically check that they have not been modified.
